It's Time To Find Your Best Festival Wear For Electric Picnic

Electrify your picnic with some smart and slick fashion choices

Dressing for a festival is, despite what snaps of Kate Moss and Cara Delevingne would have you believe, a rather tricky business – especially in Ireland, where the weather plays a mega role in any decision-making. Wellies or Converse? Tights or bare legs? Jumpers or T-shirts?

Let’s make an executive prediction: over three days at EP, soaking up sounds by Beck, Outkast, Portishead, Foals and Blondie, you’re pretty damn likely to see baking sun, soaking rain and close to freezing midnight moments.

So with that in mind, here are a few options for hail, rain or shine:

ASOS’s clear rain mac, €50 (also available in yellow) This kind of cute, kitsch and functional kit is what Electric Picnicking is all about. This will look deadly, keep you dry and (bonus!) won’t obscure the view of your festival get-up.

River Island’s high-waisted shorts, €30 These will look equally good worn over tights as they will worn with bare legs and a flowy kimono – and high-waisted plus stretch (they’re 4% elastane) means they’ll be super comfy.

Folkster’s broderie anglaise kimono, €59.99 With stores in Dublin and Kilkenny, vintage-meets-modern shop Folkster (owned by style icon Blanaid Hennessy) could well be your one-stop festival shop (depending on budget). This kimono, in any case, is amazing; pair with short shorts, dresses, jeans... the possibilities are endless!

Penneys’ jacket (€20), dress (€20), boots (€28), bag (€12) and rings (€2.50) The festival ritual wouldn’t be complete without a last-minute dash to Penneys to grab some essentials: wet wipes, an extra blanket, flip flops for midnight Portaloo runs... Well this entire outfit is perfect festival garb: clashing patterns, layers to keep you warm as the sun sets – just swap out the dainty handbag for a cross-body number and you’re good to go!

Oasis’s Clove leather cross-body bag, €50 For genuine leather, this cross-body clutch-style bag is a serious bargain – and the dark brown colour will fare well when faced with accidental spillages and possible mud spatters. Plus – roomy but not oversized; long strap to cross over body while dancing; total wear-again factor. Tick, tick, tick.
