Tired Of The Music? There's Another Side Of Electric Picnic You Need To See

Sometimes you just want to get away from it all, when the music just gets too much, and you need something a little alternative to fuel your mind. Electric Picnic does the other side of the festival experience like no other. Whether you are looking for a laugh in the Comedy Tent or want to put your thinking cap on in the Mindfield area, EP has it covered.

With a huge programme of debate, poetry, literature and theatre, science and a cúpla focail as Gaeilge, here are some our picks for the weekend.

BODY & SOUL – Easily one of the most wonderful aspects of EP is the Body & Soul area. With a magical mix of art and anything else you can imagine, swing by for a fix.

COMEDY – Can we ever get enough laughter? Simple answer: no. So even if you stocked up on some of the highest quality at the Vodafone Comedy Festival earlier in the Summer, the quality of funnymen and funnywomen playing their trade at this year's EP is top notch. With hugely popular dudes such as Simon Amstell and David O'Doherty topping the bill, do find this tent for an even bigger smile than the one that will be filling your face all weekend anyway.

TRAILER PARK – Returning for a third year, the Trailer Park feels like a micro-festival within a festival. This mobile spectular hosts a mish-mash of theatre and other performances within the tiny walls of these trailers.

SALTY DOG – Okay so this is primarily a music stage, but it is a pretty unique setting. A huge 40-tonne French trawler dragged into the centre of the woods? Has to be seen in action to be believed.

MINDFIELD – The mother of all non-music areas at EP. Unless you are a serious music nerd, most people will invariably find themselves in Mindfield at some stage over the weekend. With everything from documentray to spoken word and debates, coding to science presentations, do find the Mindfield for some serious brain juice.
