Report: Major Cyberattack Attempted At Irish University

There's been a lot of discussion on cyberattacks in the Irish media this year, and there's been another big one attempted today. According to reports in the media, a cyberattack was attempted on NUIG's computer system today.

NUIG sent an email to students and staff this afternoon that said:

"Our IT, cyber security and data protection specialists are monitoring and investigating the incident closely. At this point there is no evidence of any data being compromised. The incident has led to significant disruption to connectivity between the campus network and the wider internet, impacting all users including students and staff."

A variety of student platforms are currently down as the situation is addressed.
