NFL Preview: Week 12

Week 11 in the NFL - The Patriots lose with controversial late decision in Carolina. Denver ease past Kansas and New Orleans pipped the Niners at home. Big match ups and upsets are a regular occurrence now and all bets are off, except MVP bets, they're on.

This week we take a look at some of the MVP candidates as well as the usual predictions. LET THE GAMES BEGIN.. on Sunday.

Typically a quarterback is in contention for the league's MVP and this season is no different, with Denver's Peyton Manning leading the way in the expert's choices. Manning is currently playing with caution because of a dodgy ankle, so he could well end his season early if he's not careful. Regardless of injuries, there are still a few other viable players for the title...

Drew Brees (New Orleans Saints)

Playoff probables and a wealth of credit is heaped on Brees for this. The Superbowl winning QB has been outstanding this season, arguably rivalling Manning at times.

Calvin Johnson (Detroit Lions)

'Megatron' is undoubtably the best wide receiver in the league right now and will go down in history as one of the best ever. Is that enough to warrant the MVP for 2013?

Jamaal Charles (Kansas City Chiefs)

Although Alex Smith has done well after moving there from San Francisco, the Chiefs' running game has been brilliant. Charles has been a the fantasy football number one running back this season.

Others

Cam Newton has taken the Panthers to the brink of the playoffs and silenced many critics. Tom Brady has carried an average Patriots side without Gronkowski until now. LeSean McCoy has been the Eagles' standout player and Russel Wilson has been just that for the Seahawks, who could well be on their way to an NFC conference championship, if they continue this form. Richard Sherman has been the standout line CB in the league and plays in the best defence (Seahawks) in the league, too.

Predictions Week 12

Saints - Falcons: Saints go marching in
Buccs - Lions: Lions bounce back in Detroit what!
Vikings - Packers: Bad to worse for Green Bay? Vikings certainly pushed Seattle to the max on Sunday but Packers to edge it
Jaguars - Texans: Not sure who's worse right now. Texans get the benefit of home field
Chargers - Chiefs: Reid's side need to get back after the big clash loss on primetime. Charger's need the win, too. Close Call
Panthers - Dolphins: Panthers maul Dolphins
Steelers - Browns: Big Ben keeps the steel curtain open
Bears - Rams: Bears use momentum of win over Baltimore for this crucial road victory
Jets - Ravens: No overtime this week and the Ravens keep the playoff dream alive
Titans - Raiders: Titans aren't dead yet. Remember… the Titans..sorry
Colts - Cardinals: Luck seems to do it in the big games but Palmer had a great win with over 400 yards in week 11
Cowboys - Giants: Giants need this to keep their chances alive. Cowboys inconsistent and no momentum right now
Broncos - Pats: Pats have been unlucky. First against the Jets and again against the Panthers. Not the easiest bounce-back game
Niners - Redskins: RG3 can't seem to find the form of last year and the Niners can't afford a loss. Big win for Kaep and co.
