Kanye West's Wackiest Moments

Andrew/ Matthew Carolan

Gee wiz, this self-titled-musical-genius Kanye West never seems to be content with a mild statement. Over the past ten years, he's shaken things up and said one or two things he probably shouldn't have but it's all in good fun- right? With that in mind and the strangely deep interview with Jimmy Kimmel that occurred earlier this week, we take a look at some of the man's wackiest moments:

"George Bush Doesn't Care About Black People"

No, not the elder crankier Bush but son George Bush who was the US' 43rd President. Bush was criticised by many for his approach to handling the Hurricane Katrina crisis which hit New Orleans. Some even speculated that provisions for displaced families were based on race, an idea which Bush would be disgusted by. Kanye, actually went a bit further with his opinions on TV- and judging by Mike Myers' expression, I don't think it was planned:

Taylor Swift-Gate

I actually think Beyonce should have won too... Kanye West's actions were inappropriate however and he shouldn't have gone up on stage and blah di blah blah- it pretty much had to make the list:

South Park-Gate

In 2009, South Park brought us what is perhaps one of their funniest episodes ever, "Fishsticks." The running joke was that Kanye West was a gay-fish because he liked "fishsticks." In the episode, Kanye got frustrated because he didn't understand this joke- in fact, he couldn't and decided he must in fact be a gay-fish. He then jumped into the ocean and began his new life. In real life, Kanye was equally hurt by the episode and wrote on his blog: "South Park murdered me last night and it's pretty damn funny. It hurts my feelings but what can you expect from South Park!" He even went so far as to say that he was working on his ego. Following the Taylor Swift episode, Comedy Central played this episode on repeat:

The Zane Lowe Interview

Following the cringeworthily staged interview with Kris Jenner (botox'd Kardashian mum) which showed the angelic, sensitive side of Kanye, this interview turned things around once again. He came across as pretentious and a little bit strange in discussing his great ideas (such as the leather jogging pants) and nobody was left with a particularly nice listening experience. Kimmel, of course, parodied this with children which only served to enrage Kanye further, that's until they reconciled last week of course.

Another MTV Outrage

Going all the way back to 2006 with this final moment. Basically, he lost out at the European MTV awards for Best Video to "We Are Your Friends" by Justice-vs.-Simian. He stormed the stage with a microphone and argued that his video for "Touch The Sky" was more deserving: "My video cost a million dollars. Pamela Anderson was in it. I was jumping across canyons and shit." He felt the awards lost credibility for this reason but later explained, he was intoxicated.

Love him or loathe him, there's no denying this guy puts on a show and these are only 5 of a great number of other wacky moments (such as naming his Yeezus album in likening himself to a prominent carpenter). Please let us know your favourite outbursts and rants from the man.
