British Viewers Baffled By Maura's 'Thick With Me' Phrase
Maura Higgins has spent the summer educating her housemates on how love works. She is also teaching the British viewing public some of the beautiful phrases used by Irish people.
Case in point, her use of the phrase 'thick with me' when speaking to Curtis last night.
“Are you thick with me?”
(Maura is changing English boys and their language, one lad at a time and it’s the greatest thing I’ve ever seen. #LoveIsland ) pic.twitter.com/zuw6WVIFjP— Jarlath Regan (@Jarlath) July 9, 2019
Not only was Curtis baffled. So too were many viewers back in the UK.
Maura "So you're not tick with me" I thought she said tickle, tick, thick.. god knows haha #loveisland

No matter who wins Love Island, Maura has brought the Irish phrasebook to a much wider audience, and that's a result.
Maura. "Tick with me". Add that to her introduction of shift and bould to the #LoveIsland vernacular and we have the ultimate international ambassador
