The sitcom, set under the backdrop of the Troubles in the 90s, focuses on 16-year-old Erin Quinn (Saoirse Monica Jackson) and her group of friends.
It's a black comedy, coming of age story with a bit of a nostalgic feel and fans were raving about it on Twitter.

#DerryGirls mark my words, not only will this get a second series, it’ll provide a much needed tourism boost for the city. Best Irish based comedy since Moone Boy.
