Hozier Speaks Out Against Domestic Violence At The Safe Ireland Summit Event
This morning Hozier spoke to Cliare Byrne about domestic violence, the climate of silence that surrounds it, and the empowerment of victims. He spoke at the first Safe Ireland Summit, an event organised by SafeIreland and 40 frontline domestic violence services located throughout Ireland.
Hozier is one of over 20 speakers to appear at the event which seeks to make Ireland the safest country in the world for Women and Children. The award-winning musician also performed a rendition of his song, 'Cherry Wine' which was written to promote awareness of domestic violence and from which all the proceeds were given to domestic violence charities.
The summit will be ongoing throughout today and tomorrow, it is just one of a number of initiatives SAFE Ireland has begun as part of a 5-year Plan to change culture and transform the response to domestic violence in Ireland.
