The 9 Irish TV Shows That Need To Make A Comeback

The late 90's and early noughties gave us some of the best TV this green isle has ever seen. Can you remember where you were when Riverdance stole the show during the 1994 Eurovision interval? If you don't remember or weren't born during these classic Irish telly moments then you, my friend, can thank Youtube.

Today we've been thinking about what kind of shows we'd like to see back on our screens from this golden era of television. It was a tough call to make but somebody had to do it! Here are 9 Irish TV shows that need to make a comeback:

1. Glenroe

Mammy hasn't been the same since Biddy died on Glenroe. Here's the moment Biddy found out Miley was cheating on her:

2. Father Ted

What we wouldn't give to have all 4 of the original cast for one more season. Could we just do a spin off with Ms. Doyle and Dougal?  Could we have a one-off Christmas special with just Mrs. Doyle swearing?

3. Bosco

The puppet with more personality, well, than any other puppet really. Here's a terrifying beautiful rendition of "The Junk Song" (We're not really sure what this song is about either):

4. Foreign Exchange

The show that gave us Robert Sheehan! Foreign Exchange involved Brett from Australia and Hannah from Ireland who would visit each others homes through a magic portal. We think it's time they brought all the cast back and do a ten-year reunion. What "portal" would they find this time?

The best line: "Who said you could use my portal?"

5. You're A Star

The tragedy of You're A Star was its tiny budget. Who doesn't remember the classic Athlone sister/brother duo Joe & Donna or Mickey Joe Harte? Here's the 2004 winner Chris Doran stopping time with his winning performance:

6. Dustin's Daily News

Dustin was only given two years to give us this gold dust TV. It wasn't long enough. We want all our news delivered by an overstuffed bird - no offense Dustin! Here are just one of the many iconic moments:

7. The Morbegs

The green and orange duo may have been slightly creepy but they were loveable all the same! Here's The Morbegs giving us a rendition of "Lets Dance" and no it's not the Bowie version...

8. Fade Street

Bring back the revolutionary reality show that was Fade Street! Here's one of our favourite scenes from the 'hit' RTÉ show that you might not remember...

If anything it'll keep Vogue Williams busy for a while.

9. Celebrity Farm

Celebrity Farm only lasted one season in 2003 and starred Mary Coughlan, jazz singer, and Pantomime actress Twink. Sure wouldn't it be nice to see some of those celebs do a bit of hard work for once?! We have no footage of this iconic show but rest assured it was essential Sunday night TV.

Tell us the comment section which shows you'd bring back!
