Michael Owen Responds After Daughter Finishes Second On Love Island
After two months of Love Island, the winners were crowned with Davide and Ekin Su taking home £50,000 pounds. The latest series had it all. From dramatic re-couplings to exciting bombshells, viewers of Love Island were left entertained throughout the summer.
Prior to the first episode, one person that everyone was looking forward to seeing was Gemma Owen, the daughter of former England striker Michael.
Gemma came agonisingly close to winning Love Island with her partner Luca after making the Grand Final, where they finished as runners up. Andrew and Tasha finished in fourth with New Ross native Dami and Indiyah ending up in third place.
Over the past few weeks, many people had been anticipating that former Liverpool, Real Madrid and Manchester United man Michael Owen would make an appearance on the show when family members are invited into the villa during the final week. Sadly, Michael didn’t appear, but he did share his thoughts on Gemma’s Love Island journey on Twitter last night.
Michael shared a picture of him and Gemma to his 3.7 million Twitter followers saying, “She’s done us proud”.

It’s great to see Gemma receiving the support of her father who didn’t seem to keen on her entering the villa at the start of the summer.
It’s yet to be seen what Michael has made of her partner Luca Bish with the pair deciding not to make their relationship official until getting the blessing of the former Ballon d’Or winner.
