Prue Leith Has Accidentally Announced The Winner Of Bake Off On Twitter
Oh Prue, you had one job. Just one. You had been doing so well having been given the entirely unenviable task of replacing Mary Berry, one of the most beloved people in broadcasting of recent years, and now, now it has come to this.
Earlier today, Prue tweeted the name of the winner of this season of the Bake Off, in what surely must be the biggest celebrity Twitter mishap since Ted Cruz liked some pornography on his account, or every single day that Donald Trump has functioning thumbs and access to a phone.
Her tweet, which has since been taken down read: "No one told me judging a #gbbo final would be so emotional. I wanted them all to win. Bravo [winner's name]." We have decided to redact the winner's name so that the cake based shenanigans will remain for you unspoiled.
When made aware of her error, she removed the tweet and announced that.
I am so sorry to the fans of the show for my mistake this morning, I am in a different time zone and mortified by my error #GBBO.

She apparently made the blunder due to the fact that she is currently in Bhutan and forgot about the time difference.
Poor Prue. She sounded v upset when I spoke to her this morning about her blunder #GBBO. My chat with her here https://t.co/ElxHYIhU4z

Well, we at least know that someone won for definite and can thus rule out the possibility that all the contestants perished in some freak gazebo based accident.
