Quentin Tarantino To Tackle Infamous True Crime Case In Upcoming Film
Quentin Tarantino's 9th film will tell the story of the infamous Manson murders which took place in the late 1960s. The Manson murders were masterminded by Charles Manson, a cult leader who led what became known as the Manson Family, a quasi-commune that arose in California in the late 1960s.
Manson's followers committed a series of nine murders at four locations in July and August 1969. The most notable murder in the spree was that of actress Sharon Tate (then wife of director Roman Polanski) and it is believed that the film will focus on her role in the murders.
According to Deadline the film isn't going to stick vehemently to the facts when exploring the 1969 killing spree:
...there has been a lot of press that the script focuses on Charles Manson and the murder spree he orchestrated, but I’m told that is akin to calling Inglourious Basterds a movie about Adolf Hitler when the Nazi leader was only in a scene or two.
Rumours have it that Leonardo DiCaprio as well as Tarantino regulars Samuel Jackson and Brad Pitt are being lined up for roles in the upcoming film. Margot Robbie is also reportedly being lined up to play Sharon Tate.
Tarantino is searching for a producer for the film at the moment with the script in its final stages.
One producer that will definitely be out of the running for the film is Harvey Weinstein. Tarantino had worked with Weinstein in all his productions thus far and Tarantino has spoken about his regret about what unfolded, saying "I knew enough to do more than I did".
