Hugh Jackman Confirms Work Has Begun On The Sequel To The Greatest Showman
Hugh Jackman has confirmed that work has begun on the sequel to The Greatest Showman.
Speaking on Steve Wright Big Guests show on BBC Radio 2 yesterday, Jackman, who plays P. T. Barnum revealed the second installment of the world-wide beloved musical is already underway. After a total of more than 434 million internationally in the box office, it's only right that there is a demand for a follow-up.
When asked about the possibility of a return, Jackman revealed he knows the producers are "working on a treatment" for the sequel.
He said:
'The real answer is "could be", I'm not sure. I'm being completely honest with you, there is talk of something going around but no one is really sure.
'But I think someone is working on a treatment for something... I know they are, they're working on a treatment for something.'
Along with all this tea he is spilling, he also admitted he would love to be apart of this potential sequel, but isn't sure whether the focus will be on his character.
'I don't know. I don't know. I would like to be part of it for sure, and I don't know if it would be centred on my character.
He then went on to explain how long it may take for them to come up with a script for the sequel, seeing as the first movie took the guts of eight years to put together.
'The other thing is, it did take eight years to get it made and that wasn't all eight years of convincing people. It takes a long time to write stuff.'
This comes shortly after the director Michael Gracey told the Sun that he and Hugh were working on laying the foundations for a second film.
It may be years until we see it, we'll be counting down the minutes until we get to see the sequel to one of the greatest movies of all time.
