Looking To Make It As A Musician? There's A New Radio Series To Help You

Children dream of being many things when they grow up. I once had a friend who's dream it was was to become a shepherd's accountant, I kept trying to explain to him that shepherd's probably didn't have accountants. Did he listen to me? Heck no. He tried to follow his dream but ended up becoming CEO of a successful tech start-up, and he is utterly miserable.

Most people however, dream of becoming successful musicians or actors. Well FM104 are starting a new series, Page to Stage, to help aspiring musicians get a foothold in the Irish music scene.  It will aim to showcase what it takes to set yourself up as a gigging musician and how to gradually try and develop as a performer. The series will air as part of FM104's Open Mic, on Sundays at 10pm.

Gavin Dowd, the show's presenter, when describing the concept for the feature:

Are you a singer-songwriter struggling to get your music out to a wider audience? Have you a burning ambition to succeed in the music industry? Are you bamboozled by all of the aspects of being a musician in 2017? FM104's #PageToStage is here to help. Each week at 10pm - starting this Sunday - we will take you through a different aspect of the music industry, including: song-writing, production, publicising music & getting gigs.

This Sunday we'll be speaking to sound engineer Ronan Murphy about working with some of Ireland's biggest names and he will be answering your questions on the essential equipment needed to play live. Comment below or tweet #PageToStage

If you're at all interested in trying to pursue a career as a musician, or even just want to know how to get into performing and recording your own music, then be sure to tune in!
