32 Ultimate First World Problems That Everyone Faces
Everyone gives out about their First World Problems. You might, and probably should, feel guilty about giving out about from time to time, especially with all of the real problems out there, but in fairness, some of these things are very annoying, superficial and all as they might be.
1. The Phone Charger Cable Not Being Able To Reach Your Bed
You might even rearrange your bed, or lie on the floor, so you can scroll aimlessly through Facebook or some other website. We all know we'd be much better off reading a book or something, but there are no cat memes in books so what can you do?
2. Losing The TV Remote
It doesn't even matter if the television is actually on the right station, you need to find the remote so that when the ads come on you can entertain yourself by flicking aimlessly through the channels.
3. Flicking Through TV Channels And All Of Them Are On Ad Breaks
But then when you do find the remote and are able to flick through the channels, you get even more annoyed because every station is on an ad break.
4. Not Being Able To Skip The Ads On Live TV
Stuff like Netflix, Sky Plus and illegal online streaming has ruined our ability to be patient when it comes to television. So on the rare occasions when you are watching live TV, not being able to skip the ads is really annoying. Maybe we should look at the whole reading a book idea again... No, don't be ridiculous, I'll just go on YouTube instead.
5. Ads On Youtube
But even on YouTube you can't escape the dreaded ads. You better just hope you can skip it after 5 seconds and not end up on one of the videos that don't let you skip any of it and make you watch the full 30 seconds of whatever TV ad I went onto YouTube to avoid in the first place.
6. Waiting For Videos To Buffer
The only thing worse than the ads on Youtube is when you have to wait for a video to buffer. The reason it's worse is because at least with the ad you know how long it's going to last, but there's no guarantee that the circle of dots will ever stop spinning. And when an ad starts to buffer, that's when you really start to lose your mind.
7. Slow WiFi Anywhere
And of course the reason for the videos buffering is slow WiFi, which can ruin anyone's day. You better just hope your bedroom isn't in one of the dead zones in your house.
8. Having To Give Your Friends Your WiFi Code
Made even worse when one of your friends isn't listening or arrives late, and you have to give it out all over again.
9. Changing Your Password On Facebook
And then having to sign in all over again on your phone, tablet and laptop.
10. Being Hungry But Not For Any Of The Food In Your Fridge
When you're on your own in your house and have nothing to do, boredom becomes almost synonymous with hunger, and you find yourself getting up from the couch at every ad break just to stare into the fridge, even though you should know full well that nothing has changed. The only time you actually want anything is the day the food shopping is done.
11. Earphones Becoming Tangled In Your Pocket
It doesn't matter how tightly you wrap them or what method you use to tie them up, little elves will crawl into your pocket, undo all of your good work, and then mess them up as much as possible.
12. Too Many People Are Using Your Netflix Account
There is only allowed to be a maximum of two users on a Netflix account at any one time, so if that has happened, you just have to wait until the other people are finished. I bet you regret giving your friends access to your account now don't you?
13. Forgetting Where You Parked
There are times I've gone to a shopping centre and I can't even remember what floor of the multi-storey car park my car is on, let alone where it's parked on that particular floor.
14. Spoilers
This is one huge difference between the time before and after the introduction of online streaming. Before, if you missed an episode of a show, you asked everyone you could to find out what happened so you wouldn't fall behind for the next episode. But now, anyone who gives away any detail of an episode you missed should fear for their safety.
15. When They Spell Your Name Wrong In Starbucks
I don't drink coffee because I still have the sophistication of a 12-year-old, but I'm told that this can be pretty annoying.
16. Catching Up With A TV Show
That you've been binge-watching for the last week, only to find out that you are now up to date with it, and have to wait a week for the next episode to be shown in America before you can watch it.
17. Not Getting As Many Likes/Retweets As You Expected
Everyone, myself included, puts a little bit too much thought into what they post online, in the hope that someone out will approve and click a button to show this, and care a little too much when it isn't as popular as you thought it would be.
18. Someone's Snapchat Was Too Short And You Couldn't See It
They've recently added a replay feature to the app, but the person gets a notification to tell them you're replaying it, and that's nearly as bad as screenshotting it.
19. Accidentally Saying No To Someone On Tinder
And now they are lost forever, and you are destined never to see that person again.
20. Phone Battery Running Out In Public
You almost go into survival mode when the low battery warning pops up on your screen, rationing the use of your phone just like a soldier rations his water supply on the front line. Because the two situations are exactly the same.
21. Being Sleepy After Eating Too Much Food a.k.a PEF
Post-Eating Fatigue. This usually happens in restaurants or after takeaway. My brother is convinced that he would make a fortune if he opened a restaurant that had a napping area that you could charge people for after particularly big meals. All feedback welcome.
22. Somebody Else Using All Of The Hot Water
And now you're left having to wait for the water to heat up again. There's nothing worse than a cold shower.... Okay obviously there is, but you get my point.
23. When It's Your Turn To Unload The Dishwasher
My family is in the severe minority in that we don't have a dishwasher, and never have, but I'm told that trying to work who's turn it is to unload the machine is the start of many a family argument.
24. Eating Fruit With Seeds/Fish With Bones
If I find out that there is seeds of a bunch of grapes, chances are I'm not going to eat them. Compare this to seedless grapes, which are gone by the end of the day they are bought.
25. Being Too Cosy In Bed To Get Up To Pee
One of the hardest internal debates anyone has ever had to deal with.
26. Running Out Of Characters On Twitter
Why is it that all of your funniest ideas are always over the character limit, and once you try to get it under the 140 characters, it just isn't as funny anymore.
27. Wanting To Creep On Someone With A Private Profile
All the trouble you went to find out this person's name, or go through your friends' photos until you find one that they are tagged in, and then they have the audacity to have their profile on private settings?! Outrageous.
28. When There's A Stranger In The Kitchen
They're talking to your parents and you want to go in to get some food, but you're not in the mood to make any small talk.
29. Cracking Your Phone's Screen
Devastating. The only word you can use to describe it. And no, that's not exaggerating the severity of the situation at all.
30. Pouring Your Cereal Before Realising That You're Out Of Milk
And of course you're way too lazy to either go to the shop to get milk or put the cereal back in the box, so you end up just eating the stuff dry.
31. Buying Clothes Online Not Knowing If They Fit
Then finding out that they don't fit once they're delivered and having to go through the massive effort to return them. I don' even know where my nearest post office is.
32. Staying In A Friend's House And Waking Up First
And you don't know any of their family or housemates well enough to get up by yourself so you just have to lie there until they eventually wake up. You just have to pay that you have a half-decent internet connection at times like this.
