Wagatha Christie Trial To Be Turned Into A TV Drama
The Wagatha Christie trial has been one of the most talked about and entertaining pieces of drama all year as Rebekah Vardy and Coleen Rooney went to court over their ongoing dispute.
Back in 2019, Wayne Rooney’s wife accused the wife of Jamie Vardy of selling fake stories to the tabloids about her personal life.
Coleen carried out a sting operation on her Instagram account where she posted private events of her life and reportedly removed all other followers apart from Rebekah from seeing her posts. Some of these posts and stories then ended up in papers, leading to the beginning of the Wagatha Christie trial.
The trial went to court earlier this year, but the judge is yet to give a verdict on the outcome.
The two-part series will see actors play Coleen and Rebekah and the docudrama is set to air on Channel 4.
Cork native and filmmaker Oonagh Kearney will direct the series and she said:
“This trial utterly captivated the public with its daily feed of entertaining exchanges and jaw-dropping reveals. But behind this, is a story of two women under constant public scrutiny, fighting for their reputations.”
Creative director at Chalkboard, Tom Popay said:
“The court case… captivated the entire nation but very few people actually got to see what happened inside the courtroom.” Additionally, he said: “We’re excited to bring the trial to life in such a unique way and we’re hoping we can get to the bottom of how this case fascinated and amazed so many.”
No air date has been confirmed yet, but it will certainly be a series that you won’t want to miss.
