Watch: Ocean's 8 Is The Bridesmaids Sequel You've Been Waiting For
And Rihanna's in it...
Fans of George Clooney will remember the popular Ocean's trilogy which saw a group of con artists pull off daring heists in a Las Vegas casino and in Europe. Just like the revamped Ghostbusters in 2016, the masterminds behind Ocean's have brought in an entirely female cast to front the next installment - and possibly another trilogy.
Keeping in line with the original series, Sandra Bullock will play Danny Ocean's (George Clooney) sister Debbie who tries to pull off the heist of the century at the annual Met Gala in New York with a group of talented women.
Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham Carter and Anne Hathaway are just a few of the Oscar-winning names attached to the project with cameo appearances to include the likes of Katie Holmes, Anna Wintour, Kendell Jenner, Zayn Malik and Kim Kardashian.
Some Twitter users threw their toys out of their prams when they discovered that another franchise would be female led:
What does Oceans 8
Ghostbusters
and Star Wars
Have in common?
Where have all the strong lead male characters gone?
Why is Hollywood pushing movies like this?#Oceans8— Jake Highwell (@JakeHighwell) December 19, 2017
A little advice #Oceans8, don't pull a Ghostbusters with your movie marketing. Don't push the "men suck women rule" narrative. Just say how good the movie will be. You do that sure movie will do well. @oceans8movie

Fans of the actors are already excited for a retelling of the original franchise and praised Ocean's 8 line-up of older Hollywood stars:
While this is a movie for many audiences, it is my sincere hope that women help propel #Oceans8 to break box office records! Yes, I know what happened with Ghostbusters. I also know what happened w/Bridesmaids and Girls Trip?️ ?? pic.twitter.com/xPmiE7DssP

And most importantly, Rihanna really enjoyed herself:

Why is it so similar to 2011 Bridesmaids? Not only is the cast on the comedy-heavy side of things, Mindy, Carter and Bullock, but the trailer, which was released yesterday, indicates that we're in for some girl power magic and better yet, the majority of the cast is over 40 proving age shouldn't be a thing.
Ocean's 8 is a Melissa Mc Carthy away from making this the Bridesmaids sequel we sorely need. The bad news: We have to wait until next June to see it! Check out the trailer below:
