What's On: Here Are 7 Brilliant Things To Do Around Ireland This Weekend
Before we know it, the weekend is upon us and we're at a loose end wasting time trying to figure out what to do. Not to worry though, because we have the lowdown on seven brilliant things going on around Ireland this weekend.
1. Irish Cocktail Festival, Dublin
In what's sure to be a recipe for a fun night, the wrap party for the Irish Cocktail Festival will be on Saturday, October 14. Sample a range of delicious cocktails made with Irish spirits and enjoy a complimentary cocktail at the East Side Tavern on Leeson Street, from 6-9pm.
2. Hip Hop Brunch, Dublin
Have you ever been to a Hip Hop brunch? Us either! With old school and new school music, food and games, this is brunch with a class twist. Put it in your diary for Saturday, October 14. It's on at the Odeon in Harcourt Street from 12-6pm and brunch is served from 12-3pm. The DJ will be playing tunes by the likes of Drake, BIG, Kendrick Lemar and Kanye.
3. World BBQ Championships, Limerick
It may not be BBQ weather but it's definitely BBQ weekend. World BBQ is hitting the streets of Limerick so for all the food and all the fun, it's definitely worth checking out. There'll be live music, food and craft stalls, chill out areas, gin and whiskey bars and lots of cool other stuff going on. And it's not just meat lovers that will appreciate the food, there's lots of veggie options too. Starts at 4pm on Friday 13 October and runs through til 10pm on Sunday the 15th.
4. The Greatest Love of All, The Whitney Houston Story, Limerick
Fans of the legendary Whitney won't want to miss this. Belinda Davids is set to put on a show stopping performance in the University Concert Hall on October 14. She will belt out the pop artist's best hits in a two-hour live tribute and there won't be a dry eye in the house.
5. Mad Craic Comedy, Galway
If you're around Galway this weekend and in need of a few laughs, this comedy night is the tonic you need. Headlining is Danny Ryan who has hit the stages of Electric Picnic, Longitude and Vodafone Comedy Carnival and there's also a host of other excellent comedians in the mix. It's on Saturday October 14th at 7pm at The Stock Exchange.
6. John Connelly, Galway
Jazz lovers listen up! If you want some decent live renditions of your favourite jazz tunes, there's no better place to go this weekend, than Róisín Dubh. Gig is on Sunday, 15 at 11.30pm.
7. Singles Adventure Event, Kilkenny
For something a bit different, the adventurous singletons might wanna check out this event on Saturday, October 15. Meant to be a bit of craic, it has indoor and outdoor games, team challenges and food and drink aswell. Billed as an over 25s event, it's on Bennetsbridge Road which is just five minutes drive from the city.
