The Best Masks, Shampoos & Conditioners For Every Type Of Hair

A bad hair day is an annoyance that nobody needs. You go into your local pharmacy, Boots, Lush or Body Shop and wonder what kind of products work best for you or your hair type. "What is my hair type?" I hear you ask. Well, all will be revealed below:

Oily Hair (Straight/ fine)

  • Roots Mask (Lush)
  • TRESemmé Deep Cleansing Shampoo
  • I Love Juicy (Lush)
  • Big Shampoo (Lush)
  • Neutrogena T/Gel Shampoo

The Roots hair mask is full of peppermint which will help stimulate the scalp, reduce oil and promote hair growth, an essential for anyone with finer oily hair. I Love Juicy is a hair wash by Lush that helps remove any excess oil from the scalp. It's full of astringent ingredients such as pineapple and lemon. Big Shampoo is packed with sea salt which gives the hair volume and reduces the appearance of oil.

Dry Damaged Hair (Straight, Curly, Dyed or Afro)

  • H'Suan Wen Hua (Lush Hair mask)
  • Curly Wurley (Lush)
  • Organix Hydrating Macadamia Oil Shampoo
  • R'n'B Hair Moisturiser (Lush)

Lush's hair mask H'Suan Wen Hua is essential for anyone suffering from damaged or dry hair. Full of eggs, avocado, olive oil and bananas the mask will nourish the hair follicle. R'n'B is a hair moisturiser from Lush that is perfect for split ends - it works great on beards too!

Combination Hair (Wavey, frizzy or kinky)

  • Kinky: Lush Hot Oil Treatment
  • TRESemme conditioner for dry, frizzy hair
  • Kerastase Serum Oleo-Relax

Tresemmé conditioner is considered one of the best conditioners for dry or frizzy hair. The Kerastase Serum can be used to help the dry ends of your hair. Again, use R'n'B or other hair moisturisers to reduce the frizziness of your hair. Pop in the product when your hair is still wet and before you blow dry.

Flaky Dry Scalp

  • Moroccan Oil Treatment
  • Head & Shoulders
  • Neutrogena T/Gel 2-in-1 Dandruff Shampoo Plus Conditioner
  • The Body Shop - Tea Tree Oil

Head and Shoulders is the cheapest of the batch and most people find the shampoo effective in combating their flaky scalps. Moroccan Oil Treatment is one of those cult products at the moment. The Argan oil in the product helps to rejuvenate and moisturise your scalp. If you'd like a 2-in-1 or quick fix use the Neutrogena T/Gel. Tea Tree oil from the Body Shop can be added and massaged into your scalp before being washed out. The tea tree will kill any bacteria that builds on the scalp.
