11 Classic Movies We've Learned From
I was reared by movies. Classic Movies. Obviously, my parents got involved every now and again, but really, my moral compass was set by the things I've learned from movies. And since I am a perfectly good moral human being because of it now, I've decided to bless you with things I've learned... To help you become better like me... You're welcome.
1. Good Will Hunting (1997).
Understanding Relationships:
"You're not perfect, sport, and let me save you the suspense: this girl you've met, she's not perfect either. But the question is whether or not you're perfect for each other."
Almost perfect, bar the fact that I actually am perfect? No one could ever understand the depths of me!
"You don't know about real loss because that only occurs when you love something more than you love yourself."
It's scary. No safety net. Just a promise.
2. Dead Poet's Society (1989).
Understanding Your Coming-Of-Age:
"There's a time for daring and there's a time for caution, and a wise man understands which is called for."
Temper youthful zest... Use it when best.
"No matter what anybody tells you, words and ideas can change the world."
The truth.
3. Mean Girls (2004).
Understanding Social Necessities:
"Grool."
Before Mean Girls, how the hell did we describe how something was 'great' and 'cool at the same time? So much time lost forever... so much...
"Boo, you whore."
The best way in life to put someone down when they're clearly being a whore.
4. The Hangover (2009).
Understanding How To Get-Fucked-up-Good:
"So long, gay boys!"
When your bro's are being gay about betting fucked up good.

Understanding How To Never Give Up The Fight:
"Get busy living or get busy dying."
It's all about your perception. Make it positive. LIVE YOUR LIFE.
"Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies."
Hope is something you should never lose from your life.
6. Forrest Gump (1994).
Understanding Life Itself:
“My mama always said, ‘Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.'”
So true... personally, my life has constantly been a squished, out-of-date dark chocolate one with a weird long-hair stuck on it, but who's complaining.
“My Mama always said you’ve got to put the past behind you before you can move on.”
Easier said than done, but priceless advice.
7. Erin Brockovich (2000).
Understanding How To Throw The Best Sass:
""Okay, look, I think we got off on the wrong foot here"... "That's all you got, lady. Two wrong feet in fucking ugly shoes.""
Oh Snap!!
"Look, I don't know shit about shit but I know right from wrong!"
Mmm Hmm...
8. To Kill A Mockingbird (1962).
Understanding Other People Better:
“You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view... Until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it.”
To have empathy is to know yourself. (I made that up)
“I think there's just one kind of folks. Folks.”
So true, never remembered.
“With him, life was routine; without him, life was unbearable.”
True loss. The perfect encapsulation of it.
9. Rocky Balboa (2006).
Understanding How To Be The Best That You Can Be:
“Life's not about how hard of a hit you can give... it's about how many you can take, and still keep moving forward.”
You soak it all up, learn from it, and move on...
"You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life."
Very very true. When you understand this advice, it makes it easier to take...
10. Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986).
Understanding How To Enjoy Those Moments In Life:
"Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it."
Stop and smell the roses, y'know?
"Bueller?... Bueller?... Bueller?"
Life's too important to be in class, duh Teach'!
11. The Wizard Of Oz (1939).
Understanding That There's Different Kinds Of People In The World:
"Well, some people without brains do an awful lot of talking don't they?"
Yes they do, Scarecrow; Yes they do.
"What makes a king out of a slave? Courage!"
Your damn right, Lion!
"I could be kinda human, if I only had a heart."
You're more human than some of us will ever be, Tinman.
