9 Beauty Trends That Need To Die In 2016

2016 has been a year of highs and lows in the beauty world.

As the year ends, there are some trends we might question a bit. Although they might have been cool at the time, upon reflection they need to stay in 2016 and never return.

From insanely thick eyebrows to mermaid hair, we've rounded up the trends that need to die and be buried in the coffin of 2016.

1. Unicorn eyeliner

This stupid, unnecessary and hard trend is one of the most recent fads in 2016.  It involves drawing a unicorn horn on your liquid eyeliner. Liquid eyeliner is hard enough without all this shite thrown into the mix.

2. Mermaid hair

This one is thanks to Kylie Jenner. It involves dying your hair a bubblegum shade, normally paired with tacky hair extensions – this needs to die and be buried.

3. Strobing

First there was contouring, now this? I miss the days when all you needed was a tub of dream matte mousse and your fingers – simpler times.

4. Overdrawn lips

This looks good on absolutely no one. The only effect it gives is that you look like a fish and did your make up in the dark.

5. Waist training

Not only is this trend stupid, it's seriously bad for your health. The trainer squishes your organs together and leaves you short of breath. There's a reason it was ditched after Victorian times...

6. Claw nails

These look bloody horrific. Listen up ladies, having claw nails doesn't make you look feminine, they make you look like a tacky, colourful werewolf.

7. Humongous eyebrows

Listen, I'm all for fuller eyebrows but 2016 has taken them to a new level. Instead of looking like Cara Delevigne, most people end up looking like this.

8. Black lipstick

The goth glam look really soared in 2016 but lets be honest,  it look shite. Unless you have huge, luscious lips this needs to RIP in 2017.
