Blog Lovin': Blau von T
When did you start blogging and why?
*counts fingers* Hard to believe but I’ve actually been blogging for nearly three years. Growing up I used to keep all these little scrap books and stick in pictures from magazines and they these became my personal little style bibles, and well I guess I use the blog to do the same; but more sophisticated and Eco friendly.
How would you describe your blog?
A quirky and playful inspiration journal with a penchant for the obscure and the forlorn; a mix of all things style, fashion, beauty and culture.
Which other blogs do you enjoy following?
I love discovering brand new blogs and spending a night delving through their archives and reading nearly every post. I've recently only just stumbled upon the brilliant blogs of Jeanne Damas and Clothes, Cameras and Coffee.
What are you blogging about this week?
So far this week, I've posted my outfit from my college ball, a quick photo diary, a how to style post on boyfriend jeans and a post on winter velvet.
Have you any tips for new bloggers?
Stay true to your own tastes and interests don’t get caught up in trying to promote your blog on every social platform out there; a good blog promotes itself by its content and character. Also the Independent Fashion Bloggers website is a treasure trove of tips and tutorials.
How would you describe your sense of style?
Tomboy vintage meets sophisticated grunge; I really like to experiment day to day depending on whatever whim I'm indulging at the time. I prefer to clash opposing looks and play with clothes rather than strictly follow trends.
Who is your style icon and why?
All of members of the girl band The Like. They exude the playfulness of the swinging 60s with a chic and effortless style mixed with classic French style with British mod minimalism and clean lines. I want a beehive and a cage to go-go dance in too.
What is your favourite store?
I love the many vintage stores in Cork such as Turquoise Flamingo, Mercury Goes Retrograde and Miss Daisy Blue it’s too hard to pick between them but on the high street it would be a toss between Topshop and Urban Outfitters.
Which trends are you investing in this season?
Turtlenecks and dungarees! I snapped up a turtleneck in every colour Dunnes had and I must say they are both stylish and cosy. I purchase a vintage pair of short dungarees during the summer and they are just so comfortable and easy to style I’ love to invest in a longer pair in leather or velvet.
Which trends will you be avoiding at all costs?
In general I can’t pull off the bodycon look as I have quite a short torso us it’s not the most flattering fit for my body.
