The Top 10 Best Cars For Passing The NCT In Ireland Have Been Revealed
The NCT is an annual pain for car owners. The smallest detail could mean an automatic fail and a second trip to the mechanics to fix the tiniest of details. Thankfully, we found a list of the best cars that pass the NCT the first time around.
IDIRO analytics, a statistical company, has compiled a report of NCT users from 2016 which showcases the highest number of passes, fails, and reasons for failing for cars getting their NCT the first time around. Here's what cars had the best record passing the NCT first time:
- Nissan Juke (88%)
- Skoda Yeti (88%)
- Hyundai IX35 (80%)
- Volkswagen Tiguan (80%)
- Peugeot 508 (80%)
- Hyundai 120
- Hyundai 140
- Opel Insignia (74%)
- Mazda 2 (74%)
- Toyota Avensis D4D 2.0 (73%)
The cars that had the lowest NCT first time pass rate included Hyundai Trajet, Hyundai Lantra, Fiat Stilo, Vauxhall Vectra_V, Audi A4 1.9. Only 23% of Hyundai Trajets passed the NCT.
The figures provided have to be taken with a grain of salt as although the cars were most likely to pass, only 1,410 Nissan Dukes were tested, in comparison to a Ford Focus, where 83,832 cars were tested and 45% passed on the first NCT.
A different story could be told for the most popular car brands to pass the NCT:
- Toyota (219, 949 cars / 53.67% passed)
- Volkswagen (175,265 "/ 47.75% ")
- Ford (165, 597 " / 46.6% ")
- Nissan (102,444 "/ 46.10% ")
- Opel (85,480/ 45.31%)
The top five first time reasons for failing the NCT included side slip test (11%), brake test (12%), wheels and tires (14%), steering and suspension (15%) and 20% of people failed on 'lights and electrical'. Over 56% of cars tested with the year 2005 failed the NCT more than cars from 2004 or 2003. The oldest car to be tested was a Honda Civic from 1980.
