10 Things To Do If Your Electricity Goes Out Because Of Storm Ophelia
If you're anything like me right now you are tucked away in your bed under the covers watching all of the fall out from Storm Ophelia as it sends the whole of the nation into a veritable tizzy.
We've already had several spicy memes on the storm as well as some great pictures and jokes, but what if the worst comes to worst and your leckie goes? You can't waste your phone battery on checking all the Ophelia banter, so what will you do?
Well fear not because College Times is on hand to tell you what to do if your electricity goes out because of Storm Ophelia.
1) Candles
Candles, candles, candles. We really can't stress this enough. If you want to know how many to buy, get as many as you think you need, then double it. Then light enough of them so that your house is a reasonable fire hazard.
2) Tell Ghost Stories
Seeing as we're coming up to Halloween now is the perfect time to hone your scariest spooky stories. Like how much the damage from Storm Ophelia is going to cost the country, or how that more than likely we'll all be in work tomorrow. *Shudder*
3) Play Board Games
Any of the old classics will do: Monopoly, Risk, Charades, The Game Of Life. Just don't play for too long as you are bound to fall out with your housemates after 10 games of Monopoly.
4) Pray
It's been a while, hasn't it? Do you still remember how to bless yourself? No? Of course not. Say a prayer for all those affected by the storm and hope to God you won't be one of them.
5) Write A Novel
Look, we all know you're no Anne Frank but sure if you don't write it now, when are you going to?
6) Eat Raw Meat
Maybe you're one of the few people that didn't go on a rabid shopping spree ahead of the storm. If not, then you probably won't have any food in the house that doesn't need to be cooked. Just role play as a stone age man and tear into those raw chicken tenders. With any luck you'll contract salmonella and have to take the rest of the week off.
7) Conduct A Séance
No better time to whip out the auld Ouija board. The storm will only add to the spooky ambiance.
8) Start A Fire
Nothing passes the time like sitting at a toasty fire all evening. You can also use it to boil water for tea if you're feeling brave.
9) Get Started On That Pumpkin
With Halloween just around the corner now's your chance to get a head start on the festivities.
10) Pints!
If you're like 99% of the population then you will have stocked up on gargle ahead of Ireland's biggest weather event since 'the big freeze'. So sit back, relax, and skull cans all day. Sure there's nothing else you can do.
