Felix Da Housecat @ The Village, Dublin
One of the originals, one of thee most important figures in dance music, one of a kind. This Sunday evening sees the return to Dublin of a man who has left an indelible impression on house music over the past 30 years. We are referring of course to Mr Felix Da Housecat, the renowned DJ and producer who will return to his home away from home, Dublin, this weekend.
The man has done it all. He mixed and matched with all the greats as he grew up in Chicago and learned his trade under DJ Pierre. He pioneered his own sound Electroclash before completely revamping his musical style with a more underground flavour in recent years. He also found time to carve out a reputation as a formidable entertainer behind the decks, never one to disappoint, his sets an adventure of sorts for those looking on.
Having distinctly moved away from the likes of Silverscreen and his co jaunts with P. Diddy, Felix has carved a superb reputation over the last few months as a somewhat of an underground specialist. His residency in Space went by the name Clandestin and attracted a sizeable following thanks to a stream of high quality guests and the undeniable charisma of the Housecat. In the past few months he has also discovered his production mojo with some fantastic originals like Sinner Winner and I Wanna Be A Lesbian as well as a widely lauded remix of Ali Love – Another which shows a side to Felix not seen for a long time.
This Sunday night at The Village see’s Felix return to Ireland following an outrageously well attended performance at Electric Picnic last September. Performing for those lovely JACK fellows he is sure to set the place alight, on what looks like the standout show of this weekend.
