10 Things You'll Instantly Recognise If You've Been The New Kid In Work

Being the new kid in work can be stressful. It's like starting school all over again - except with no morning prayers. If you've ever started a new office job, than you will relate to the following:

1. Not knowing where the bathroom is.

This is one of the first conundrums you'll encounter. Where is the bathroom? Who will I ask? You eventually suss out its whereabouts just before you wet yourself.

2. Who's sitting behind me?

Aka who can see my screen? Knowing who you're surrounded by can help you gauge how much time you can spend on Facebook.

3. The sheer terror when the phone rings.

Should I answer? Should I not answer? What will happen if I do answer?  The scenarios that run through your head during the four or five rings are endless. Eventually you decide to let it ring out while you pretend you're deeply fixated on a complicated spreadsheet, just in case anyone's looking.

4. Not remembering any names.

Let's face it. We're so nervous when we start a new job, we rarely remember all the names of the people we've been introduced to. We still don't know after a few weeks and by then, it's too late to ask.

5. Thinking 'that wasn't mentioned in the interview.'

You're smiling and nodding along as your boss is going through what you'll be doing in your new role. However, you're wondering whether this is even the same job you went for. Configuring what now?
