UCC Student House Officially Colder Inside Than It Is Outside

A student house in Cork is astounding architects and meteorologists alike as numerous tests seem to prove that the domicile is colder on the inside than on the outside.

Experts are baffled as to how the structure seems to be 'holding' the cold.

Speaking to College Times, resident Jamie Colgan explained that ever since the start of October the temperature has steadily decreased to the point where he has started to leave the windows and doors open in the hope of 'letting the cold out':

When we first moved into the gaff in September it was lovely and warm, I was saying to the other house mate Liam, this is a right spot. Then November rolls along and boom, the place is like an ice palace! Even when we have the heaters on, the fire raging, the cooker open and we're wrapped up to the last. It's insane. So we opened all the windows and doors to let the cold out but it doesn't seem to be working.

Seasoned meteorologist Gillian Dempsey believes that the house itself has developed it's own microclimate which explains the frosty weather:

There are a variety of circumstances that can lead to the development of a microclimate in this case the single glazing, the poor insulation, and the general lack of investment by the landlord have all contributed to the sub arctic temperatures these students are facing.

We contacted landlord Ger Scullion for his take on the situation and he dismissed the concerns:

I've had tenants in that house for twenty year, and I never once had a single complaint about how cold it was. Granted a foreign couple froze to death in it a few years back but that was a completely different reason. Anyway the lease is signed and unless the temperature goes under -10, legally speaking, my arse is covered.
