Is Your Hometown Considered The Best Town In Ireland?
Last week we did a story on the worst towns in Ireland and uh, the response was pretty huge. We thought we'd inject a bit of positivity and embrace all the amazing places in the country because let's face it: Ireland is pretty damn grand and we should be proud of it. We found a few Reddit threads (here and here) and Boards.ie posts (here, here and here) that talk about all the best Irish towns so here goes!
1. Galway city
Galway. Every time. Clean, laid back and friendly. Plenty to do and plenty of beaches.

2. Cork city
It's not as big as Dublin but its a nice city. A lot going on with festivals, plays, shows pretty much throughout the year.

3. Greystones, Co. Wicklow
It has everything. Costal town, in arguably the most beautiful part of Ireland. Plenty of decent services. Right outside Dublin, Train goes there every 15-20 mins, bus routes into the Dublin city centre etc...

4. Maynooth, Co. Kildare
It is a mainly a student town, having the most popular and best University in Ireland it has lots of apartments has a few clubs and is 40 mins on a bus away from the great nightlife in Dublin.

5. West Cork
The most beautiful place on earth

6. Crosshaven, Co. Cork
All the above are great but don't have the "Crosshaven Factor". Crosshaven is the best town in Ireland to live bar none.

7. Malahide, Co. Dublin
Live in Dublin and so for me it's got to be Malahide. Coastal, great little village with nice bars, cafes and restaurants, close to the beach in Portmarnock, it has a castle, huge park and an avoca, the DART and it's where the Irish Cricket Internationals are often played. Close to Swords too for the cinema, shopping and nightlife; ideal spot.

8. Killarney, Co. Kerry
I grew up in Killarney and really do think it's a great place to live in. The scenery is amazing, loads of places to go for walks. Not too far from the beach. Nice little town too. Touristy, yes. You get used to it though.

9. Clonakilty, Co. Cork
+1 for Clonakilty!
- Great pubs and live music
- Amazing beaches
- People are very friendly
- Airport / Cork city not too far away
I'd move there in a shot!

10. Killorglin, Co. Kerry
I really mean the Killorglin area. There is Caragh Lake which is so beautiful. Killorglin Town has less to shout about except for the annual Puck Fair which I hear is amazing (I will try to go this year). Also, Killorglin is in close proximity to great beaches, famous golf courses, Kerry Airport, Killarney Town and the Dingle Peninsula. For my interests, that's a lot of beauty and fun to be packed in one area.

11. Chapelizod, Dublin
Chapelizod in Dublin. Strange name but a nice little village atmosphere. Pubs, shop, chemist. Twenty minutes to town by very frequent bus. Two minutes to the Pheeno, lovely walk/cycle along the Liffey, ten minutes to LV Shopping Centre and M50. Twenty minutes to airport, five minutes to Heuston and the Luas.

12. Tralee, Co. Kerry
Tralee gets an awful unfair reputation but I think it's a great town to live in and bring up a family. It's my original home place and I love going back as often as I can.
