10 Things Only DCU Students Will Relate To
There are very few reasons not to like Dublin City University, a small campus with friendly staff and students, and when the sun hits it just right, it's a beautiful sight to behold. Similar to most colleges, there are many things only DCU students will relate to.
1. You will ALWAYS press the wheelchair access button at the front of the Henry Grattan.
Even though we all know that it's less hassle to just push the god damn thing open. And you will always
get stuck waiting for people to step out of the building on a rain day, rather than them let you in first.
2. You will always think a room number beginning "HG##" is a room in the Henry Grattan building.
Think you're going to the Henry Grattan? Well you're wrong. Off to the Nursing building with you.
3. You tried relentlessly to boycott the chicken goujons in Nubar after they reduced it to four pieces a serving.
You also didn't believe in their excuse of "the rise in the cost of goujons" as a decent reason.
4. You gave up and got them anyway.
Because let's face it, they taste like heaven and you won't get anything like them anywhere else. You also
took advantage of the day they brought back the fifth goujon for one day value – because you're nifty.
5. You hoped that when someone asked "Who's hosting pre-drinks?" that the student from Hazelwood wouldn't offer.
Because you'd rather drink on your own than the high-tail it up that mountain to Hazelwood.
6. Someone, at some stage this year, mentioned a connection between the new Spar location and "something from Fair City"
The new renovations in DCU aren't looking too glamorous at the moment, and has even made the poor
Spar shop look like a film set.
7. The deconstruction of the Hub also reminds you of the images you see of war-torn Syria.
The image speaks for itself.
8. You were just as shocked as anyone to find out there's a really nice canteen on the top floor of the business building.
Say good-bye to hectic queues in the main canteen!
9. The main attire for male students is skinny trackies and some form of county top or Jack Wills hoodie.
While for the girls, faux fur-lined hooded jackets seems to be doing the rounds. As well as the wooly hats
with an over-sized pompom on top.
10. You'll always complain about how bad ShitENitE is, even though you absolutely love it.
The queues are definitely worth it. Plus you can get goujons at the end of the night....
