This University Is Sending Acceptance Letters Using Mind-Blowing Augmented Reality

Getting accepted to go to college is exciting enough but this takes it a step further. Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU) in China have used augmented reality while issuing its acceptance letters to students.

It works by students scanning the QR code found on the letter with their phone which automatically downloads NPU's AR app.

Through Augmented Reality, students can view the history of the university as well as finding out some information on the marine, aeronautical, astronautical engineering field – which the college is very well known for.

The school decided to add AR into their acceptance letters to highlight the universities "cutting edge" technology. It seems to be the first of its kind in China, as well as worldwide.

A lot of us were first introduced to the idea of AR with Pokemon Go. How it works is by calculating the position and angle of camera view in real time, whilst adding images, videos, and 3D models.

Would you like to accept your college letter this way? Or are you happy enough with a good old piece of paper?
