Here Are The Main Course Points That Have Dropped In CAO Round 2 Offers
The second round of CAO offers have been released this morning, with 3,308 applicants receiving new offers for third level courses. Of the courses that dropped, most were within the one to ten point range but some courses, such as Social Science in UCC (down 25 points to 378) are now significantly lower.
1,991 places have been offered at Level-8, while 1,317 have been made at Level 7/6. Overall 1,905 students will be waking up this morning to discover they've now been offered their first preference.
In terms of the biggest courses around the country, Arts in UCD has dropped four points to 322, with Business and Law dopping eight to 521 points and Sports Science and Exercise Management down eight points to 332.
In UCC, Arts has also dropped, down six points to 340. Arts in Maynooth University has remained the same but Computer Science through Arts is down nine to 331. Computer Science through Science in also 10 to 340, while Computer Science and Business in Trinity College is down 11 points to 509. Elsewhere in Trinity Social Studies has fallen to 340 points from 350 and Law was another course among those to drop; down eight points to 534.
Engineering courses fell in a number of colleges, down one point in UCD to 498, down four to 466 in Trinity, and down from 454 to 443 in UCC. Over in the west, Occupational Therapy at NUI Galway is down 11 points to 520, while nursing at GMIT has dropped by nine points, down to 389.
