Christmas FM Have Raised A Whopping Amount For Charity This Christmas
The elves at Christmas FM worked their magic once again...
Christmas FM collaborated with Sightsavers Ireland as their charity partner for Christmas 2017. Sightsavers Ireland raises funds to help eliminate blindness across the globe and everyone's favourite festive station managed to raise over €125,000 in just 24 hours! The Christmas FM team took to Twitter to thank listeners for their donations on Donations Day:
You are incredible listeners! You have raised over €125,000 for @SightsaversIE on #DonationDay. Thank you so much. The phone lines are now closed but you can still donate 24hrs online and give the #giftofsight at https://t.co/hV5XNCJNT7 pic.twitter.com/8sh0BMtRXJ

The station's sponsors cover the cost of the radio station which means that all proceeds raised go directly to Sightsavers Ireland. 36 million people around the world are blind and 75% of cases can be cured or prevented and since Sightsavers began they've provided over 6.1 million cataract surgeries and 332,000 trachoma operations.
So far Christmas FM has raised over €1,250,000 for charities including Focus Ireland, Aware, Age Action and Make-A-Wish Foundation. Overall, Sightsavers Ireland donation day is one of the biggest the station has ever had. Although phone lines are now closed you can still donate online. Only €36 euro is enough to perform an operation to restore an adults sight.
And not only that but they were kind enough to chat to us last week!
