5 Times Climate Change Activist Greta Thunberg Did Not Hold Back
Greta Thunberg is a Sweedish climate change activist that has everyone talking. At only 16 years old, Gretta is the key protagonist behind the climate actions strikes in schools across the globe and is a Nobel Peace Prize nominee.
On Tuesday of this week, Greta addressed the UK House of Parliament in a powerful speech. This is just one of five instances where Greta Thunberg did not hold back in delivering the harsh truths about climate change.
1. Speech to UK House of Parliament
In this speech on behalf of future generations, Greta stated that her future was sold. She condemns the UK for its role in the fossil fuel industry for 'its mind-blowing historical carbon debt, but also for its current, very creative, carbon accounting.'
This ongoing irresponsible behaviour will no doubt be remembered in history as one of the greatest failures of humankind.

‘That future was sold so that a small number of people could make unimaginable amounts of money. It was stolen from us every time you said that the sky was the limit, and that you only live once.’

2. Calling for 'cathedral thinking' to climate change
In light of the Notre Dame Cathedral fire, Greta called for 'cathedral thinking' towards climate change. Following last week's fire at Notre Dame, there was an outpour of donations with more than €600m pledged by billionaires, charities, companies and individuals to help rebuild the Cathedral. Greta question why there wasn't more urgency for climate action and appealed to politicians to save the planet in the same way they have pledged to rebuild Notre Dame Cathedral:
A great number of politicians have told me that panic never leads to anything good, but when your house is on fire, then that does require some level of panic

3. Speech at TEDX Stockholm
In 2018, the climate change activist appealed to the audience to look for action instead of hope and then hope will come.
"If I were to speak to Donald Trump today I don't think there is much I could say to make him change his mind.
"Obviously he must have scientists coming to talk to him all the time, so he is obviously not listening to the scientists.
"There is nothing I could say."
5. Addressing 25 000 people at a rally in Rome
At a rally in Rome's Piazza Del Popolo, the teenager warned world leaders that in only 11-year climate breakdown will be irreversible.
