Dublin Among The Top Ten Most Liveable Cities In Spite Of Slowest City Centre
Good news for the capital. Dublin has re-entered the Top Ten List of the most livable cities for expats. According to a global survey, Dublin is tied at ninth place sharing the title of ninth most livable city with Luxembourg and Gothenburg.
This comes as part of an annual location rating report by ECA International. The report ranks cities around the world based on a number of liveability factors including health services, housing, access to a social network and leisure facilities, infrastructure, political tensions, personal safety, climate and air quality.
Topping the list in another tie was Copenhagen in Denmark and Bern in Switzerland. The Danish capital has topped the most livable cities along with the happiest city lists time and time again. If you're looking for a city break this year Copenhagen is the place to go. It's a laid back and stylish city with great food and great people but it'll cost you. No less than 3 cities in the Netherlands made the list- The Hague in joint third with Geneva in Switzerland and Amsterdam and Eindhoven sharing joint sixth with Basel in Switzerland. The only UK city to make the list was Edinburgh at number 10.
According to Neil Ashman, Senior Location Ratings Analyst at ECA International, the general feedback about Dublin from the expat community is they felt safe in Dublin after dark.
It's not all positive for the capital, a second report has found that Dublin has the slowest city centre in all of Europe with speeds dipping to as low as 6mph. A report by Inrix, Inrix, a global company that specialises in transportation analytics, found that Dublin drivers spend around 246 hours in traffic in 2018.
So there you have it, Dublin still has lots of room for improvement to compete with the Danes.
