A Dublin University Is Set To Drastically Increase Its Fees For Postgraduate Studies
It was announced last night, at a Students Against Fees meeting in Trinity College Dublin that there would be a significant rise in the cost of postgraduate courses at the Dublin university.
Trinity College Dublin Students' Union President Kevin Keane made the announcement at the meeting though, according to Trinity News, said that he was bound "by confidentiality" and would not be able to provide further details on the extent of the proposed increase.
Not only are postgraduate fees set to rise, but there are expected to be similarly large increases to fees for non-EU students looking to study at the university.
Fees for postgraduate and non-EU students are set independently by Trinity's Finance Committee and have been steadily increasing over the past few years, by an average of between 3-4%, however it is understood that this latest increase, affecting students in the 2018-19 academic year, will be greater than these previous increases.
The irony of unveiling this news at a meeting of Students Against Fees is truly profound.
