Ireland's Most Expensive Private School To Open This September
With fees of up to €24,000 a year the Nord Anglia school in Sandyford, Co Dublin, which opens this September, will be the most expensive private school in Ireland.
Speaking this morning on Today with Sean O'Rourke on RTE Radio One, principal of the new institution Paul Crute said that while the fees are high, the school will be "ground-breaking":
You can't compare the school to any school you've got in Ireland currently. There's only 200 schools on the planet that will offer the curriculum that this school is offering. It'll be the first all-through international [school], but it will offer the three stages of the International Baccalaureate.
Dublin is an exciting place to be. It's one of the only cities in the world that doesn't have a full top-to-toe international school for kids aged between three and 18.
Crute went onto say that he hoped that the school would help sell Ireland to international companies thinking of relocating. He also said that parents are looking for a school that has the same curriculum as other countries so that if they should move they can "pick up where you left off". There are 4,000 international schools across the world.
Crute said that with a pupil to teacher ratio of 1:20 that the school offers a "personalised teaching programme", emphasising the importance of every student.
He said that because the school would not be in receipt of public funding, it will not be credited by the Department of Education, instead be accredited by the International Baccalaureate Organisation.
Mr Crute also revealed that a healthy number of students will have enrolled in the school when it opens in September, while over 1,000 unsolicited teaching applications have already been sent in.
