Jenny Greene Announces She's Leaving 2FM
The Radio Presenter/DJ posted to Twitter earlier today to announce her departure from 2FM after spending 12 years of her exceptional career at the station. With a heavy heart, she said she will be moving on in her career. Onward's and upwards!
"It is with a heavy heart that I have decided to say farewell to 2FM. 12 years ago John Clarke gave me the opportunity of a lifetime, to host my own show on Friday night. Soon after, Ian Wilson took me under his wing and secured me a Saturday night show and he gave me the freedom to create my own brand and vision with The Electric Disco.
"I can never thank him enough for the belief he had in me"
The DJ found worldwide success from being on the show, travelling Ireland and Australia in 2013 with her album of tracks which she then got to perform around festivals in Ireland with the RTÉ concert hall.
"I have had so many amazing experiences from broadcasting at Oxegen, Electric Picnic, Sea Sessions and Longitude to actually performing at festivals and selling out arena's with the amazing RTÉ Concert Orchestra and Gemma Sugrue."
Jenny also got the lucky chance to have a spot on a day-time show with Nicky Byrne, which she admits was a risky pairing, but ended up giving her a new friend for life who supports her "on and off the air."
She has made the decision to leave 2FM due to the fact that returning to an evening show may not be the next step for her, personally and professionally.
"So I want to thank all the loyal listeners, who tuned in everyday on 2FM and those who helped me along the way in RTÉ: you know who you are.
"To quote the late, great Terry Wogan: 'there's never a right time to leave something you love, but there might be a wrong time if you hang on too long.'"

Jennifer Zamperelli will be filling in the spot on 2FM that has been left by Jenny Greene and her co-host Nicky Byrne, as they both go off to concentrate on different paths. Jennifer has hosted Breakfast Republic for the last five years, and will now get her own show at 10 am.
