A Man Has Been Charged And Named Over Vandalising The George At The Weekend
Last Saturday social media lit up with outrage over the anti- gay graffiti that covered The George, one of Ireland's most iconic gay bars. Here is a picture of the type of vandalism that occurred:
Eoin Berkley (23), Finglas, has been named as the man who vandalised the landmark pub on Georges St. (Berkeley is pictured in The Irish Times). Yesterday Berkeley was arrested outside the city centre and charged with criminal damage. The court was presented with high-quality CCTV images of Berkley that were taken by the bars security cameras.
Berkeley was granted bail and cannot enter the Dublin 2 area. He must sign on at the Ballymun garda station between 7am and 7pm every day. The court will reconvene on July 4th and further charges may apply.
Here are the Twitter reactions to the vandalism:
It turns out the vandalism outside #TheGeorge was in chalk.
So it rained, the hate washed away, and then there was a rainbow.
Amazing. ?

What do you think about the mans actions? Should resources, money, time and effort be spent educating people or should one person be made an example of? Let us know in the comments section!
