'One Whiff & You're Stiff': 'Viagra Falls' Making Cork Villagers Very Excited
Ringaskiddy has long been the home of Pfizer where most of the world's supply of Viagra is manufactured. This has led to the village being dubbed 'Viagra Falls' and locals believe that the effects of the drug, which combats erectile dysfunction, is being felt outside the the confines of the factory
Local barmaid Debbie O’Grady told The Sunday Times: "One whiff and you’re stiff. We’ve been getting the love fumes for years now for free", referring to emissions from the factory’s chimneys.
Psychiatric nurse Fiona Toomey revealed that even the dogs in the village "walk around in a state of sexual excitement".
She also said that she believes that the drug must've gotten into the water supply early on, when Pfizer was just getting going in the village :"I’m convinced that’s what happened at the very beginning, before they were so closely regulated."
But Pfizer have dismissed talk that the fumes are giving the villagers any trouble, saying in a statement that it is nothing more than a tall tale.
Pfizer said: "Our manufacturing processes have always been highly sophisticated as well as highly regulated."
Irish men in need of the drug will soon be able to purchase the product over the counter, following a public consultation by the UK Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency.
Well there you have it, do you believe Pfizer or the locals? Might be worth booking a hotel in Ringaskiddy with your significant other and check it out for yourselves...
