Renewing Your Irish Passport Will Finally Get Easier From This Week On
This is some of the best news we've heard all week. From March 30th Irish citizens over the age of 18 will be able to renew their Irish passport online. Yes, you've heard it right, no more waiting in awful queues, it'll be able to be done with the click of a button.
The only catch is that people applying for their first passport and people under the age of 18 will have to get their passport the current way. The Online Passport Application Service (OPAS) will be available on the Department of Foreign Affairs website. This will be the answer to quicker turnaround times and no long waits.
Minister for Foreign Affairs Charlie Flanagan, made the announcement in 2015 to improve passport services and plans on running it until 2019. It's all to ensure security while moving the system into the future.
All we care about is those extra few hours in bed that'll we'll get instead of lining up at a passport office – ka-ching.
