The Future Is Here! Samsung Set To Release Foldable Phone In 2018
A phone that can fold in half you say? This is one of those instances where I cannot think of a single advantage of being able to fold a phone in half yet if a foldable phone came on the market I'd be the first man in the queue to buy one.
CEO of Samsung, Koh Dong-Jin said the company aims to release a smartphone with a bendable display sometime next year. Dong-Jin confirmed the move in a media day for the Galaxy Note 8 in Seoul.
Speaking to Boy Genius Report, Dong-Jin said ‘We will launch the device only after overcoming a series of technological barriers.’
Here is an image of Samsung's patent:
Samsung are not the only tech giant set on bringing out a foldable phone. Apple have also patented a foldable iPhone on August 28th of last year which uses 'carbon nanotubes' to allow the device to fold in on itself while still being functional.
Hopefully with the supposed wave of foldable phones coming on the market these smartphone companies can finally eradicate these devices susceptibility to broken screens. We live in hope.
