Former TCDSU Presidential Candidate Cleared Of Sexual Harassment Allegations
Controversy arose two weeks ago when TCDSU Presidential candidate Sean Ryan was accused of sexual harassment days before the TCDSU elections. Now the former candidate's name has been cleared of the allegations and the case is now "closed", according to an email Ryan shared on Facebook.
The Junior Dean, Tim Trimble, cleared Ryan of the claims of sexual harassment that were made against him during the Trinity College Dublin Students’ Union (TCDSU) elections.
In the email, Trimble informed Ryan that he had investigated the complaint and that “there was no case to answer”. Posting the screenshot of the email, Ryan thanked the Junior Dean and his tutor for their guidance over the last number of weeks: “I would like to thank the Junior Dean’s office for their thorough investigation and my tutor for his guidance and assistance during the process”.
The allegations were reported by a number of student newspapers and appeared on social media. Due to the allegations, Ryan opted to drop out of the Presidential race, even though he had been favourite to win. Ryan previously apologized for any offense he may have caused.
