Hooray! A 296-Bed Student Accommodation Block Will Be Built By 2018

I think everyone has been made aware of the extreme lack of student accommodation in Dublin at the moment. So it was music to our ears when we heard of a €43 million contract for a 296-bed student accommodation was signed yesterday.

The student housing that was signed off by BAM Ireland and Global Student Accommodation (GSA) is set to be ready by September 2018. The accommodation will be called Uninest New Mill as it'll be beside (you guessed it) Uninest Mill, at Merchant’s Quay, Dublin.

The housing will be for Trinity, DIT and Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland students. According to a press release by GSA, the complex will have "a combination of ensuite cluster apartments and community spaces, while the ground floor is set to become a business incubation hub for start-ups, small businesses and entrepreneurs".

What's great about the housing getting built is 250 new jobs will be created, as well as five permanent positions upon completion of the project. GSA’s Head of Construction Europe, Aaron Bailey, explained how important it is to build student accommodation, "We look forward to working closely with BAM Ireland for the duration of the project, ensuring that together we provide the community with a much-needed student residence on time and in budget".

It's great to hear of student accommodation getting planning permission, as just last week, a 152-bed plan for housing in Drumcondra was rejected.
