Update: A Number Of Schools And Colleges To Reopen On Monday

A number of colleges will reopen tomorrow, March 5.

  • Maynooth Campus are reopening - however the college are advising staff and students not to take un-necessary risks in travelling, and to stay at home if it is unsafe to travel.

As per Twitter.com/MaynoothUni:

  • Trinity College will fully reopen tomorrow at 10am as expected.
  • DCU will reopen. Classes and lectures will recommence at 12 noon tomorrow. As per Facebook:

  • IT Tallaght will reopen.

Dundalk Institute of Technology will reopen. As per Facebook:

  • Institute of Technology Carlow will reopen tomorrow. As per Facebook:

The Institute’s Carlow Campus will re-open on Monday 5th March 2018 for full-time students and lifelong learning students. There may be disruptions to scheduled activities depending upon the operation of regional public transport systems and road conditions. Any examinations planned for Monday 5th March at the Carlow Campus will therefore be rescheduled.

The Department of Education released a statement yesterday, March 3 to announce that a number of schools will open "where possible". Individual colleges and schools may make decisions based on their circumstances in that area:

Some routes may remain unpassable for buses and schools are expected to contact the families if bus routes are not running.

Further snow and ice are expected over the next number of days but not to the extent of Storm Emma. Schools were told to keep the heating on for the week ahead to stop pipes from freezing.
