How To Avoid Being The Boring Relationship Type
So you've been branded 'boring' by all your single friends... welcome to a relationship. Where weight gain is acceptable, and you don't have to socialise with anyone because you always have your other half. Drinks? Nah X Factor is on. Sound familiar? It's easy to fall into the trap, but try to include your partner in your life, rather than making them your life. Here's how to avoid falling into the boring relationship pit when it comes to both your own relationship, and with your life and friends. After all, no one likes that boring couple who can't even get separate taxis.
1) Put The Remote Down And Go Out
Going out doesn't necessarily mean going for drinks, even the cinema or a bite to eat is better than sitting on the couch watching some stupid Rom-com from 2003.
2) Make It A Group Date
Some people find it difficult to balance relationships and friendships, so why not join the two? There's nothing more important than your friends getting along with your other half. Just don't spend the entire night attached to each other. Use this time to get to know their friends, and vice versa.
3) Make Time For Your Friends
As obvious as it sounds, the easiest way to avoid being the boring stereotype is to still go out and have fun with your friends. Girls/Guys nights are essential and are just as important as your relationship. Your friends were here before your partner, and will still be there after... don't take them for granted.
4) Take Random Trips
Whether its a €9.99 Ryanair deal or even a train journey, taking random trips together is a sure fire way to keep your relationship fresh. Your other half is the perfect travel partner, so include them in your wanderlust ways.
5) Go On A Group Holiday
Short breaks are great, but when it comes to a week or two with your loved one, things can get tense. Going on a group holiday ensures a great time with your favourite peeps. Now is the time to be going on crazy holidays with your friends, there will be plenty of time for you and your partner to holiday alone.
6) Be Spontaneous
Life doesn't have to be planned down to a tee. If it's a nice day out, why not suggest going to the beach? Or ring them randomly asking if they're up for a coffee. So many things in life are scheduled; class times, work hours, your relationship shouldn't be one of those things.
7) Keep Your Sex Life Alive
Sex is an essential part of any relationship. Sure honesty and trust are important, but sex is too so make sure you make time between the sheets.
8) Get Drunk
At pre-drinks or alone, getting drunk with your partner is a great way to have some fun. You're both young so act like it. Relationships at our age aren't supposed to be serious so let loose and go make stupid memories together.
