This morning at 6 a.m, Leaving Cert turned College students impatiently refreshed their browsers to find out if they had been offered their first choice in the first round of CAO offers this year. Like every year, there are happy and sad reactions to this long awaited D-day, and students have expressed their feelings, as always, on Twitter.
This years students have had a rocky road with a lot of universities chopping and changing point requirements to fit the demand of their courses. With it only being first round offers, there's always a chance that you'll get what you wanted when second round offers come out.
With mixed reactions from the offers today, students are giving us all flash backs to our own CAO offers and the stress that comes with it.

Along with these, past students have been reminiscing on their CAO days and giving a bit of hope and kind advice to Leaving Cert students.
According to former LC students, the world doesn't end if you don't get what you wanted, and even if you do, it may not work out how you thought. Overall, the advice is not to let this day discourage you from figuring out where you want to be in life.

So after a pretty fucked up two years I got a round one offer for the only course on my CAO application, I should have a degree already but I’m glad to start over doing something I actually like and have some interest in, not just something to get and please my parents

To 6th years this morning who opened up their caos and weren’t happy just remember I didn’t even take my cao offer I moved countries on my own and I’m doing a course I absolutely love I also don’t regret anything so remember everything happens for a reason ?

aw mad this day last year I was drunk at my dad's birthday & ended up getting sick then I passed out and when I woke up in the morning I got my CAO offers. Good luck to anyone getting theirs lol honestly if I could get the offers I wanted yous defiantly will

5 year ago today, I slept in, didn't know what any of the texts saying "what did you get???" mean, realised I was supposed to get m college offers, got locked out of my CAO account, and eventually accepted my place in Maynooth. It's been wild.
