With the much anticipated release of Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron today, we're taking a look back at the best bits of the first movie and see what we should expect from the new instalment in the Marvel franchise.
1) All-star cast
The Avengers cast is a bit ridiculous in terms of Hollywood stars. Every scene is brimming with talent, be it Robert Downey Jr. and Samuel L. Jackson, to Chris Hemsworth and Scarlett Johansson, and somehow they all have an insane amount of chemistry.
2) The Hulk Done Right
The previous two attempts at The Hulk were flaming failures so adding a new incarnation of The Hulk into The Avengers mix was risky. But it paid off in the casting of Mark Ruffalo. At once gentle and intelligent, while exuding a sense of restrained strength, he was the perfect man for the job.

3) The Action
As is to be expected in a superhero movie, there's plenty of action. The movie opens with a dramatic, if slightly messy, action sequence and the closing 30 minutes is basically one large battle between our superheroes and the Chiaturi aliens. It's a lot of CGI but we really don't care. The action is expected to be ramped up even more in Avengers 2.
4) CGI
When your movie includes a giant green monster, a man in a suit flying around and a load of aliens you know that the CGI is going to be important. The Avengers CGI surpasses all previous Marvel movies and was the first movie to really capture the Hulk’s transformation. The director Joss Whedon is known for his visual effect work and you can see his hand at work in the amazing visuals in The Avengers.

5) The Eye Candy
The Avengers might just be the largest combination of attractive people on screen at once, ever. There is quite literally something for everyone, whether they appreciate RDJ for his wit, Chris Evans for being generally handsome, or Chris Hemsworth for those arms, you can take your pick. Scarlett Johansson represents for the ladies, and in The Avengers 2 Elizabeth Olsen steps in to add even more attractiveness to the line up. Our personal choice is Tom Hiddleston, for being the most lovely human being ever.
6) Loki
Speaking of Hiddleston, he plays Loki, the villain in The Avengers. Brother to Thor, one would have thought he'd be outshone by the rather more prominent leading man. But nope; such is the charisma of Tom Hiddleston that audiences fell in love with Loki entirely, so much so that they've been calling for him to have his own movie. Sadly, Loki won't be gracing the screen in The Avengers 2 so fans will have to wait until the third instalment of Thor to get their fill.
7) The Humour
The Avengers is foremost an action superhero movie but it doesn't lack in the humour department. This is all down to Joss Whedon who is known for infusing scripts with his trademark acerbic wit. Robert Downey Jr. is gifted with the best lines as the brash and cocky Tony Stark and from his opening scenes in the movies is providing quips and one-liners that force laughter. However, he isn’t alone; the majority of scenes are cut with some comedic elements as the movie tries to avoid taking itself too seriously. We can confirm that there are even more laughs in the sequel.
8) Story Continuation
The Marvel movie Universe is now one of the biggest franchises in the world. The Avengers marked the end of Phase One which included Iron Man 1 & 2, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, and Captain America, thus the movie had to tie together elements of all them and allow their stories to converge, which they achieved brilliantly. On top of this they also set us up for Phase Two, as they hinted at future problems and character interactions.
