Fleadh Ceoil na hÉireann was due to take place in Mullingar this year until Covid-19 struck. However, despite the pandemic and the fleadh being postponed until 2021, a brilliant virtual celebration took place on TG4.
The virtual gathering saw traditional musicians from around the world who would have come together to celebrate the All-Ireland Fleadh this month.
Over the four nights, the fleadh captured the music, dance and stories, which are the essence of the annual event. It presented a unique insight into the fleadh community at home and abroad.
On each of the four nights, Dáithí Ó Sé, Doireann Ní Ghlacáin and Kieran Hanrahan took viewers on a virtual journey through each of the provinces, starting in Munster and finishing in Leinster.
Brother and sister, Séamus and Caoimhe Uí Fhlatharta perfomed on the first night. The gave an absolutely enchanting rendition of the traiditional sean-nós song 'Eileanóir na Rún'. Have a look.
