Liam Cunningham mightn't immediately be a name you recognise but you will know the face, and you should listen to his message. The Irish actor, best known for his amazing role as Davos on Game of Thrones, was on Claire Byrne Live last night and spoke passionately and openly about Ireland's need to take in more people who are fleeing Africa.
The show aired after a hard-hitting documentary on RTÉ last night called The Crossing, which showed the Irish Navy's work helping Northern Africans seeking refuge in Europe.
Claire Byrne Live discussed the issues in the documentary with actor Liam Cunningham, journalist Ian O'Doherty and Minister for Defence Paul Kehoe but it was Liam who viewers really resonated with on social media. He called on Ireland to take in more people who are fleeing these awful conditions, as countries such as Turkey and Lebanon have already accepted an astonishing 2.5 million. Ireland has allowed in just 500, and it's not good enough.

He said there's a battle for humanity. Too right. This is what Twitter had to say:
He's spot on. It's down to money or people. Seems stupid that it's money.
