Great news, Netflix has renewed its latest hit series Dead To Me for a second season. Dead To Me season two has been given the green light but its release date has yet to be revealed. The dark comedy stars Jen (Christina Applegate) as a widow trying to come to terms with her husband's death in a hit and run incident. She meets Judy (Linda Cardellini) at a support group, and the two become friends despite their polar-opposite personalities.. Unbeknownst to Jen, Judy is hiding a secret that may change her entire life.
Series creator Liz Feldman will return as showrunner, with both Feldman and Applegate acting as executive producers, as part of a team that includes Will Ferrell. Dead To Me has received generally positive reviews from critics. In her review for Variety, Caroline Framke wrote, “It’s undeniably exciting to see Cardellini and Applegate, two rock-solid TV veterans who have rarely gotten roles worthy of their skills in recent years, play off each other and rip into material that asks so much of them. In any given episode, Judy and Jen can be doing anything from stumbling into a screwball misadventure to screaming and crying when their pasts come back to haunt them.”
Season one of the series was praised by fans for its unique take on grief. Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter about what's in store for Dead To Me season two, Feldman said:
Just like the rest of the show, it’s not exactly what you think it’s going to be. ‘There’s an evening of the score and there’s a rebalancing that will take place and almost, in some ways, a role reversal.’ ‘This show will always be a show that explores the dark sides and the light sides of grief, loss, forgiveness and friendship,’ they add. ‘So suffice to say, there will be more darkness.
